Waad, is a community activist with more than 5 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector. Waad holds a Bachelor degree in Information Technology from the University of Khartoum. She started her voluntary work journey since she joined University 2009 in several charity and student-led conferences, workshops and initiatives. Her huge interest in entrepreneurship drove her to be a part of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community (IEC) to participate in building the Sudanese entrepreneurial ecosystem. Currently, she’s achieving this through her contribution to offer opportunities for local entrepreneurs by linking them to local and international mentors, investors and entrepreneurs and offering them the opportunities to represent Sudanese Startups in international Entrepreneurial platforms. Since 2014, her responsibilities have increased, starting from being an event organizer for the local entrepreneurial events & workshops. Going through being the Global Entrepreneurship Week - Sudan Media team leader, which raised her responsibilities to reach out global communities to reflect the tremendous efforts her community achieved. And lately, she was the lead organizer for 54-hours global event called Startup Weekend that aim to group participants to work on ideas and represent complete business models, prototypes and demos. On the other hand, Waad is an information security passionate. It’s a challenging field with only 10% of the global cyber security workforces are women. In addition, it requires great analytical and technical skills that she sharpened by practicing cyber security attacks and defense techniques and that led her to participate in 2015 with the first African females team in an online international cyber security competition called Global Cyberlympics. Currently, Waad is working as Information System Auditor in one of leading Telecommunication Companies in SUDAN and beside that she’s planning to launch her startup that targeting youth females in general. Waad is an inherently happy person with an ENTJ personality type and a dreamer with high expectations reach the atmosphere.
