1. The best engineering project award in Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA) competition(2013). Titled as “DMAIC Application for better quality education”. This project about improving education by applying engineering methodologies like Six Sigma & was a real case study applied on schools in Jordan throughout two years .

Amal has a diversified range of experience in management, training and marketing related roles particularly in education. She is currently working in the KAUST Entrepreneurship Center in a number of roles, she manages the TAQADAM university accelerator which is funded by Saudi British Bank (SABB) and hosted twenty-eight startup teams in its first edition with a variety of technologies including IOT, New Materials, Software and Biotechnology from 13 different Saudi universities. Amal managed the program design, sponsor engagement, startup mentorship and other related matters. Amal also is an instructor for the entrepreneurship and Technology innovation course that is being offered currently to KAUST students. Amal also designs and delivers some of the executive education programs focused on innovation and delivered to companies and other institutions either in house or at KAUST. Amal also delivers training sessions in all signature programs in KAUST including REVelate(corporate innovation Program), STEAM and REVhouse. prior to that she worked in the KAUST Seed Fund. Previously Amal has managed an educational organization; during that time she designed programs and innovative initiatives to be implemented by educators in any available setting. Amal also ran her own business, which organized sports events and offered commercial consultancy to large organizations. Her clients included several Dubai government departments, the Kaminski hotel ‘Mall of the Emirates’, Infiniti Cars and other service providers. A joint venture with another start up in Dubai focused on creating media and production services to other agencies including Starcom Dubai, Yahoo Dubai and many others. She has assisted in teaching Services Marketing to undergraduates at Wollongong University and also published two business articles focused on services marketing. Amal has an experience in coaching, training and mentoring individuals and teams. Combining seventeen years of working experience in education, strategic marketing, services design, coaching and training has given her an edge in delivering an experience designed to last. Amal also participated in many international, regional and local conferences and events as a speaker and a trainer in innovation and Social Design Thinking such as TEDex, the annual Conference of the Islamic Development Bank in Mozambique and Jeddah, Startup Istanbul and MIT enterprise forum. Amal is also a certified trainer in Design Innovation and Change Management by Experience Point, the World Bank training program in Business incubation Management Training and by the DSchool in Stanford University in Design Thinking Education: Amal has a Masters in Strategic Marketing from the University of Wollongong in Australia and a Bachelors degree in Education from King Abdul Aziz University. She also has an executive certificate in Design Thinking from the D-School in Stanford University. Amal also just finished a two years program in MIT Sloan school of management and acquired two certificates one is an executive certificate in regional entrepreneurship and ecosystem building and the other is an Advanced certificate for executives in management, innovation and technology.

This workshop aims to introduce audience from scientific background as well as other backgrounds to the notion of “converting your ideas into a successful business”. Dr. Omar Sakr is the founder and CEO of Nawah-Scientific, the first private multidisciplinary research center and scientific incubator in Egypt, catering for research in the fields of natural and biomedical sciences. Omar graduated as a pharmacist in 2005 from Ain Shams University, Egypt. He holds a PhD in pharmaceutical technology from the university of Geneva and he is pursuing an MBA degree from HULT business school in London. His career extends over 11 years of experience in the pharmaceutical field, both in academia and industry. His workplaces include Egypt, Switzerland and Germany where he worked for 3 years as a researcher at Capsulution Pharma in Berlin. Omar’s research activities are focused on nanotech applications for controlled delivery of small molecules and biological drugs. To his name, Omar holds several scientific and business awards for innovative product design. He authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters that are published in top journals in the field. Omar’s own famous quote is: “Some stuff can only be done the hard way!”.
