Competition Coordinator

I was born in Iraq and I have been living in Canada for the past 13 years. I have recently graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, majoring in Urban Planning. My degree afforded me the opportunity to travel abroad, to conduct scholarly research to address global and local issues. As part of a student group, I traveled to Nepal’s Mount Everest Region to examine energy consumption of mountainous communities and understand alternative potential sources that are suitable for remote regions. My research provided recommendations to local authorities on ways to produce energy that would have the least impact on the environment while generating positive health outcomes. I also  participated in a joint research venture  between the University of Waterloo and China’s Nanjing University. While in China, I conducted empirical research to assess user accessibility of some of China's UNESCO World Heritage sites for person's with disabilities.

I am currently working in Canada for a land development consulting firm, lending my project management and planning skills to some of the largest land developers in North America.
